The Welly is in Freemantlei and because of it's back street location (& real ale) it doesn't suffer from the idiots who knuckle drag up Shirley Road between lager palaces.
St. Peter's brewery in Suffolk post 12 bottles to your door for about £25 all inclusive. They do some smashing stuff too.
Beers of Europe are very good. A huge range and fairly cheap, although a £7.50 delivery charge means that you need to buy 20-odd bottles to make it worth while.

Hobson's Mild was a smashing example of what people think stereotypically is a mild ale. Dark brown, not bitter and plenty malty. Low in alcohol too. &
