A large pub set within an historic building just outside of the city centre.   Absolutely heaving at the bar - 4 deep - & no free seats at 18.30 so we left without a drink for The County Arms over the road which had loads of space & came back a little later at 20.30 where it was a different scene;

7 real ales at the bar, 4 of them Adnams - which usually doesn't set the heart aflutter, but one was called Kolschi!   Now I'm pretty certain Adnams isn't one of the few breweries outside of Colognei allowed to call their beers Kolsch by the Appellation Controllee, but I had to try it.   It was a nice enough cross-over beer (ie lager drinkers wouldn't mind it) & was fairly fruity, but not a Kolsch.

We got a table in a side room & stayed a while in the now much more relaxed atmosphere after the scrum earlier.   Other beers we tried were the ever wonderful Tim Taylor Landlord & Nethergate Umbel Magna (another beer I've never tried before) which were both great - the Umbel Magna particularly interesting as a dark beer with corianderi.
