Cockermouthi Beer Festival is pretty darned good.
Take a car full of people up the the Lakes and go walking during the day through the mountains. Back to Andy's for a shower (we're not camping - the festival is in December!), into town for a meal and off to the town shed for a beer or thirty.
Beers to avoid - Old Jock - might actually be called Auld Jock, but it's 6% and tastes... well it got the nickname Old Jock-Strap from us.
Because Cockermouth is a winter beer festival, people brew lots of dark and strong beers to warm you through the winter. Thing is, when a hundred-odd people packed into the town shed it gets jolly warm.
All good fun though and people dance and sing on the way home! You know who you are!
