A Dortmunderⁱ is a pilsner style beer from the industrial region of Dortmund where the water has a high sulphate content.   This accentuates the bitterness of the beers produced there.   DAB is the largest brewer in the region.

This beer is very much like a typical German pils, but more harshly bitter.
