Another great Gosport beer festival!
There were eight of us there and we must have sampled everything on the bars plus several of the Belgian beers towards the end of the night.I'm paying for that now though.
See photos in photo section...
Expresso Stout made another appearance and was excellent, but the most memorable one was the green beer. 1st seen in Stockporti (at The Crown) a few years ago, Sign of Spring from the Stonehenge brewery is pale ale & quite dry. And
green.
Popperings Hommelbier from Van Eecke (Belgian) was good. I told the barman that Belgian beers were usually too sweet with not enough hops in for me and he recommended this. Still a bit sweet but good and at 7.5% enough to make sure I slept well.
Rebellion IPAi was plenty hoppy but I'm not sure it was too true to style. Rich's mate repairs the gas at the brewery so we had to try this.
Killer Bee from Darwin was very honey tasting. I couldn't of sank a pint though.
Chancellors Revenge from Shardlow deserves a mention because it was horrid! The taste of TCP just killed every other flavour in the beer. I had to throw it away. The woman serving it said she thought it was ghastly too
. So why were they serving it? It was a real stinker.
Salopian Golden Thread was a good golden ale, but then everything that brewery touches is wonderfull. No one beer stood out at this festival, which is a 1st.
