The lager fest on Saturday night had seven of us in total drinking about 25 beers.

That's not much I hear you say! That's only three and a bit bottles each! We had to call an end to it at around midnight with lagers still to be tasted.

There was no clear winner, but the following beers did very well:

Tergenseer Special
Leffe Blonde
Brooklyn Lageri
Sam Adams Boston Lager
Baltika
Budvar Dark
Rothaus Pils

The Brooklyn Lager was really a pale ale and a fine example of an American one at that.

Only one beer was universally thought of as rubbish - Victoria Bitter or VB. It had a sulphorous taste & smell that was horrid.

The American Bud didn't come in for any special criticism surprisingly. We agreed that it is easy to see why people can get really REALLY drunk on it as it has no aftertaste at all, so you don't know whether it's your 1st or 10th until you fall over.

The food was good too!

Next, it is wine tasting to be organised by Sue...
