Kro Bar, Manchester

This is a great bar.   Definitely not a pub - a bar.   Several different European lagers (most are good ones too) on tap plus up to 4 real ales on.   Several different foreign bottled beers in the fridge behind the bar too.   Lively & probably gets rammed at weekends but they have plenty of space to sit.

Opposite the Manchesteri Student Union building it is a great place to sit & wait for the gig to start at the Academy.   That's what we did.   We started on a pint of Budweiser Budvar, Caledonian Deuchars IPAi, Thwaits Lancaster Bomber & bottles of Fruh Kolschi & Jever Pilsner.   It was only a Monday night though so we didn't go overboard.

Just a clarification.

The original Kro is the one opposite Manchesteri University Students Union (Oxford Road campus I believe it's called now) and this is the one Dave means.  It is a very good bar.

There's also the Kro on Piccadilly (Gardens) - always busy, and Kro/2 near the Poly (MMU - just underneath the Manc Way, again on Oxford Road) - not as busy.  Both of these are good (excellent quality ales and food - if a little overpriced) but have a different "feel" to them hence I'd rate them both only a 3.  I prefer the warmer, cosier atmosphere of the Original.
