Cheap booze leads to more incidents of violence, damage & regret in teenagers.   I will never attack academia for investigating things that when reported, Joe Public says "well I could have told you that!".   Things that seem obvious are sometimes proved wrong.

Well this report by Prof Mark Bellis finds truth in what I've mentioned before: introducing you own kids to alcohol in a controlled manner leads them to treat it with more respect.   Tackling risky alcohol use in schoolchildren by Prof Bellis finds that "where parents provide alcohol to their children, such children are less likely to binge drink and to drink in public places."

Also "Replacing peer pressure to drink dangerously with positive parental role models for sensible alcohol consumption. This may include teenage children drinking alcohol with their parents during meals or elsewhere, in moderation, in order to educate them about alcohol use."   I would call into play the Jeremy Clarkson effect where anything done by parents is automatically seen uncool by their kids.

Common sense from my point of view but with more science proving it now.
