Sainsbury's reveal new bottled beer line up

NewsReviews

Sainsbury'si have got a new line of products on the supermarket shelves as we go into Autumn, with some of the best beer they've ever had (strangely, none of it is mentioned at all on their shopping website & the beers have been available for a few weeks now - maybe they don't need the sales);

Allgates, Porteresque - A reasonable porter.   Smooth & silky, full with some roast malt flavour.

Bath Ales, Golden Hare - a mellow, dryish beer with a light Goldings-type hoppiness.

Bays, Breaker - malty sweet, chestnut coloured beer with a reasonable bitterness.   An average beer.

BrewDog, Chaos Theory IPAi - good earthy hop punch with some Noble hop aroma, some malt sweetness.   A reasonable IPA & a good beer for drinking slowly or sharing.

BrewDog, Dogma - a honey beer with other unusual ingredients.   An amber beer, with a malty sweet taste, subtle honey flavour & alcohol warmth.   A slow drinker.

BrewDog, Punk IPA - Very pale beer with good bitterness and good, aroma hoppiness, little maltiness, quite dry.   A good drinking beer.

Gale's (Fullers), Seafarer's Ale - A very ordinary beer.   Malty sweet, copper coloured bitter with a gentle bitterness.   Fullers give some money to Seafarer's UK when people buy this beer, but I can't see it making up for closing Gales Brewery to the drinkers of Hampshirei.

Williams, IPA - The pick of the bunch.   A fair malt body, good earthy bitterness & citrussy hoppiness.   An easy drinking, refreshing beer.

Williams, 80/- A marvellous example of the 80/- style.   A dark red beer, with a strong malty body but not too sweet, a little treacle & a gentle bitterness.

Wolf, Whistle - A copper coloured beer, some toffee-biscuit malty sweetness, mellow & very lightly hopped.   A reasonable beer.
