The Salutation, Doncaster

The Salutation is the oldest pub in Doncaster & right in the town centre.   It has a traditional pub interior & the lady serving me was friendly.   Seven interesting real ales from far & wide - I didn't see any mediocre beers like Courage Best or Old Speckled Hen.   I had a drink of Thornbridge Wild Swan which was tremendous - extremely pale & hoppy with the Cascadei kind of citrussiness.

Menu had 3 curries on; Madras, Tikka Masala & Korma as well as the usual pub meals at reasonable prices.   I had the Chicken Tikka Masala & it was nice enough.

I wish I could have stayed & drunk my way across the bar, but I had to get back to my hotel & work in the morning.   A smashing pub & I'd love to return.   The only thing I can say that was bad about it was that a Michael Wigan Bolton song played over the speakers.
