The Salutation Inn, Nottingham

One of the oldest pubs in Britain & right next to my hotel, The Salutation is a rock pub that has a loud jukebox when there aren't bands. Several real ales on the bar & plenty of little corners to sit in if you want to hide away from the rest of the pub.

I had a Rudgate Ruby Mild on the basis that it is a previous Supreme Champion Beer of Britain, but it wasn't quite up to the hype. Nice enough though, with a sherry sweet maltiness that finished quite dry.

On the other hand, I picked a simple beef chilli off the menu & it was the best chilli I've had in years! Just great! Unfortunately I couldn't stay longer as I only had one night in Nottingham.

Right near the city centre & definitely worth a visit.
