Wetherspoons has been criticised for poor service in the past but this took the biscuit.   We waited ages to get served amongst a huge crowd of punters at 11.30 in the morning.   It appeared to be one girl's first day serving - talk about a baptism of fire!

Good beer at reasonable price but you know where the savings have been made.

Wood's Shropshirei Lad was smashing here, Titanic White Star good too.

Update 2011: Midweek in the evening was much better. Got served rapidly & enjoyed a meal watching Sky News. Much better.

update Feb'11

I recently returned to this Weatherspoon's pub - I was staying over with work so needed a budget meal & drink - and had a Butcombe Old Vic & a Salopian Shropshirei Gold. Both smashing drinks (see my Twitter account for my tastings) & the service was excellent. It was a Tuesday night however. The large mixed grill was bigger than my head!
