Smithfield Hotel, Manchester

Right in the heart of Manchesteri's real ale district - just to the Northi & West of the city centre.   Away from the shoppers & the knuckle draggers who frequent the lager palaces on Piccadilly stands an unassuming pub called Smithfield Hotel.

A simple pub selling several real ales - several ones I'd not seen before & all smashing.   The kitchen that is clearly on view with a serving hole tempts you to think they serve food, but they don't.   They must get sick of people asking.

On a Saturday afternoon with Man Yoo at home & one of our drinkers being a Red, we met several away fans & enjoyed a couple of jars.   Mind you the thick Black Country accent doesn't really give you away as a United fan automatically.

Some people might criticise it as an old man's pub, but if it keeps the trendy corn-lager drinkers away then that suits me.
