I have named this beer in honour of a friend from Seaham, County Durham who has just bought himself a homebrew setup & brewed his first beer - an all grain APA - last week.

I wanted another American Pale Aleⁱ ready to drink for my birthday in a few weeks & am using the last of my pale malt up.

I bottled most of my Birthday Porter into 1 & 2 litre PET bottles, but kept 7 litres back to experiment with.

A substantial porter that will be ready to drink for my wife's (it ends in a "0") birthday. She wanted it chocolatey.

My favourite style of beer is American Pale Aleⁱ & no suprises then that I've brewed a few (they're all on this website);

American Pale Ale
Simcoe Liberty Bitter
Simcoe Cascadeⁱ Bitter

I don't think I've ever brewed the same beer twice in recent years - this is about as close as I get though - there's always a new hop I find & have to try out or a tweak to the last recipe to expe

I've almost run out of beer in the house & we are on an economy drive so beer must be brewed. Then someone gets engaged so the decision on style of beer is made for me: A Belgian Bruin beer.
